IO Web Helpdesk - CGI Basics

There are several considerations when running a cgi script from one of IO's servers:
  • Your script should end with .cgi
  • You should place your script in a cgi-bin directory under your public-web directory.
  • When you see a Server Error response, it means the server cannot execute your script properly. It does not mean that the server is "broken" but rather that the script itself or a related file contains code which prevents the server from executing it as requested.
  • If your script is a compiled executable, it should be compiled locally on atlantis.io.com.

CGI Reference

Unfortunately, we don't have the resources to trouble-shoot cgi scripts that our users write. We can however point you to some excellent online resources.
